In Person Verification (IPV) is a process where the broker verifies the client and his documents in person, as per the circular set by SEBI. All brokers are required to carry out this process for all clients.
It is compulsory for every client to go through the IPV for opening a trading and a demat account, reactivation of account and critical personal detail updations like address, DOB, PAN, CKYC, authority letter, signature and name, etc.
IPV in the past used to be done physically where an employee of the broker would visit and verify. Nowadays, technology allows the IPV to be done online using a webcam or your phone camera.
